English Football League Two side Morecambe have signed former Welsh Premier League forward Jason Oswell.
The former Robin had scored 27 goals in 48 appearances for Stockport County since moving away to Latham Park and won the Player of the Year for his former club.
Oswell has penned a two-year deal at the Globe Arena after they fended off interest from League Two rivals and a handful of non-league sides like Chester.
He has since earnt a return to the Football League, where he was previously on the books of Crewe Alexandra, but failed to make an appearance.
“Jason has had an impressive couple of seasons. He’s proven to be a top goalscorer and now with full-time football we are confident he will do it at Football League level,” said new manager Jim Bentley to Morecambe’s official website.
“He’s a good player, very hungry and a focused individual and is eager to be a success.”
In his last season in the JD Welsh Premier League, he picked up the Golden Boot, scoring 22 goals in 31 appearances. He helped the Robins to a Europa League play-off semi-final.
He spent a total of four seasons in the Welsh Premier League, after joining Rhyl back in 2013, following a short spell with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
The 25-year-old then moved off to Airbus UK, where he failed to score in five appearances. However, a move to Latham Park saw him score 56 goals in 104 appearances in all competitions.
Oswell was named in the Welsh Premier League Team of the Year in 2014/2015 and in 2016/2017, in 2016/2017 he was named Player of the Season. He was a Welsh Cup runner-up with Newtown and also a Welsh Premier League runner-up with Airbus.
