After bowing out of the Champions League to Macedonian side KF Shkëndija, The New Saints drop into the Europa League to host Gibraltarian champions Lincoln Red Imps.
As part of the new structure for UEFA’s European club competitions, both the Lincoln Red Imps and The New Saints have been given a second chance in the second tier competition.
Lincoln Red Imps began their competitive season, by hosting the UEFA Champions League preliminary round.
They beat Sanmarinese champions La Fiorita 2-0 but then lost in the final to Kosovar champions Drita 4-1 after extra time.
The New Saints lost 5-0 in their first leg to KF Shkëndija but almost overturned that deficit, losing out by just the one goal on aggregate, after beating them 4-0 at Park Hall last Tuesday.
It was only a year ago that The New Saints played Gibraltarian opposition. They beat Europa 4-3 on aggregate, after losing the first leg 2-1.
