Barry Town United have signed Newport County youngster Momodou Touray on a season-long loan from the Football League club.
Touray signs from the Exiles, who are managed by former Barry Town United midfielder Michael Flynn.
The 18-year-old centre-forward began his time at County as part of their Futsal team, before transitioning into the Youth League. He has since gone on to play for the Welsh National team at U19’s level.
In April 2018, Touray penned a professional deal with the Exiles. Last season he had a loan spell with Merthyr Town. He made a first-team appearance for County on the final day of their league campaign, in a 1-1 draw against Carlisle United as a second-half substitute.
“He’s a player that we’ve tracked for a little while and someone we’re excited by,” said manager Gavin Chesterfield
He benefited from a loan spell at Merthyr last season and Flynny knows what Modou needs for the next stage of his development and we’re happy that he trusts us to help with this.”
The Gambian born forward spent a week with the 2015/2016 English Premier League winners Leicester City last January and was an unused substitute for their U23’s side.
County manager Flynn sang Touray’s praises after they penned new deals earlier this year: “Momodou has excelled during his time with the under-19s Wales side.
“It goes to shows how important the community programme is as he was first spotted by Norman Parselle while he was part of the County in the Community College Programme.”
