Bangor City have signed former Wrexham goalkeeper Andy Coughlin and former Bury trainee Elliot Fenton.
Both players had been on trial with the club, playing a number of pre-season games, but the Citizens have now secured the signatures of both Coughlin and Fenton.
Coughlin joins having spent a season at the Airfield with Cymru Alliance rivals Airbus UK Broughton. The Citizens had Crewe Alexandra shot-stopper Harry Pickering on trial also, but have opted to sign Coughlin over the Alex goalkeeper. Youth keeper Leon Jones has also been in the sticks for Bangor over the course of pre-season.
“It’s great to get such an experienced GK in Andy,” said Harrison to BangorCityFC.
“Having played almost 100 Conference games and also a full season of experience in the Huws Gray Alliance which will be invaluable this coming season”.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper began his career with Tranmere Rovers, before a loan move to Fleetwood Town. He then departed Prenton Park to join Wrexham, where he enjoyed most of his playing time. He spent a total of three years at the Racecourse Ground, making 62 league appearances in total.
After moving on from Wrexham, he had stints at Southport and Barrow, before joining the Welsh pyramid system with Airbus UK, making 20 league appearances for the Wingmakers last season.
Coughlin is an England C international, having played against Jordan U23’s in 2014, where he kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory for the Three Lions.
Harrison continued: “Andy is a very big physical presence and an imposing figure. I’ve spoke to some of my best friends in football who have worked with Andy and said he is a great lad and a very good GK which he has shown in pre-season on more than one occasion.
I’m looking forward to working with Andy and putting another piece in our defensive jigsaw which has great experience in it”.
Also arriving at Nantporth is attacker Elliot Fenton. Fenton is a former Manchester United trialist having joined Football League side Bury at the age of 12. He has focused mostly on Futsal.
The 17-year-old joins Bangor City from Football League Accrington Stanley.
Harrison said: “Elliott is clearly a very skilful footballer and only just turning 17 years of age has lots of development time left. Elliott has spent most of his football life playing a very high standard of futsal with Manchester and England futsal team which explains his fantastic ability on the ball.
I’m looking forward to working with Elliott to bring out the potential in him and also helping him develop his all round game in senior football. Elliott will join the likes of Alex Boss, Sam Jones, Sam Ashworth, Gethin Thomas & Leon Jones who will all be looking to make a big impact in the first team this coming season”.
Jacob Farleigh, formerly of The New Saints and Owestry Town, has also joined the club having previously worked under manager Craig Harrison at Park Hall.
