Welsh Football League Division One side Undy Athletic have confirmed reserve team manager Jason Pritchard as the new first-team manager. Pritchard takes over the reigns from Laurence Owen, who retired from management following the conclusion of last season.
The Tigers have spent the previous two seasons in the top flight of the Welsh League, following their promotion via a third-placed finish in the 2015/16 campaign.
Pritchard, who has previously managed Caldicot Town, will be assisted by Marcus Power and Dave Livermore as the club look to improve on last season’s ninth place finish.
Speaking to the South Wales Argus, the new boss made clear the size of the task ahead of him, as he looks ti build on the success that Owen achieved: “Laurence is an unbelievable act to follow but I am certainly looking forward to the challenge of filling very big shoes.”
Undy, who were reformed in 1970, have experienced an upturn in fortunes in the last 8 years, having been members of the Gwent County League in the 2010/11 season; they are now playing three divisions higher in Welsh League One.
Pritchard is looking forward to a positive season with a competitive Undy outfit: “I have inherited a very good squad which doesn’t really need too many additions.”
He concluded by saying: “What I am sure of is we have a lot of hard work ahead of us and I can’t wait to get started.”
Undy Athletic begin the new season away to Cwmamman United on Saturday August 11 (14:30).
