Welsh Football League Round-Up: MD2/3 – 17/08/2018 – 18/08/2018

Summer signing Lee Trundle got off the mark in the perfect fashion, scoring four goals against new boys Pontypridd Town.

The Bluebirds saw off Division Two champions Llantwit Major with a 2-0 victory last week but thumped the third tier runners-up at the Bridge Meadow Stadium this afternoon, winning by nine goals to one.

Danny Williams scored a hat-trick for the Bluebirds. He was assisted by Alaric Jones for his first, before taking the ball from the Pontypridd defender for his second.

Elliot Scotcher scored a superb long-distance strike before Scotcher set up Hicks for the ninth.

Jack Wilson finished off the scoring for the Bluebirds, putting them into double figures.

Experienced forward Gavin Beddard scored a consolation goal, from a Danny Hooper corner.

Division One

Welsh League Division One action began on Friday evening as Cambrian & Clydach had derby day delight over Ton Pentre. Second half goals from Liam Reed, Josh Maksimovic and Kyle Jones secured the victory over the Bulldogs.

It was a goalless draw for Ammanford in their first Division One game in sixteen years, drawing away at the Marston Stadium.

Goytre came away from Old Road with all three points, making it two wins from two.

Cwmbran Celtic’s first home game of the season on their extended pitch at Celtic Park didn’t go to plan. Dylan Thomas and Morgan Thomas scored for Port Talbot Town, to give Mark Pike lift off as manager as Steelmen boss. Josh Bull scored a stoppage-time goal for Cwmbran, but it was all in vain.

Cwmamman United recorded a home victory over Goytre United. Christian Allen and Ryan Harlow recording the victory for them.

In the second derby of the weekend, Llantwit Major held title contenders Penybont to a goalless draw, with no fewer than FIVE red cards. Three were shown to the Major, as well as two for Penybont, including manager Rhys Griffiths.

A six-goal thriller was played at Rhiw’r Ddar. Dan Jarman continued his form from last season, scoring a brace for Jason Pritchard’s side, alongside Alex Jarma as they clawed back from three goals down to salvage a draw. Christian Davies, Jason Bertorelli and Warren Jones were on the scoresheet for the Wellmen.

Division Two

Swansea University put thirteen past a depleted Aberdare Town side, bouncing back from their midweek defeat to West End.

Marley Bishop-Wisdom scored a Patrick, whilst Chris Fanet, Seif Abourram, Nick Hyden and Yomi Olowofoyeku scored braces. Adam Rome and Dan Barnard were also on the scoresheet at Aberaman Park.

Caerau Ely continued their good start to the season with a 2-0 victory over Abergavenny Town. Left-back Jerome Actie scored his second in as many games, whilst new boy Elijah Chilweka was on the scoresheet.

STM Sports continued their prolific finishing, by putting six past AFC Llwydcoed. Ben Ahmun scored twice, whilst Chris Worsley, Callum Bateman, Joey Evans and Josh Graham were also on the scoresheet.

An eleven goal thriller, including a sending off for Bridgend Streets goalkeeper, was played out at Stafford Common. Garden Village ran out 6-5 winners over the Cardiff side.

Nathan Logan and Scott Smith grabbed places for David D’Auria’s side, as well as goals for Kieran Richards and Sion Dafydd-Williams. David Brooks scored a hat-trick, whilst Mike Murphy and Harry Burge were also on the scoresheet.

Fellow new boys Monmouth Town, relegated from Division One last year had victory over Risca United at Ty Ifsa Park. Darren Berry, Leo Ross and Perrys Pullen were all on the scoresheet, with Lewis Davies scoring a consolation goal for the Cuckoos.

Caldicot Town recorded a victory over Pontardawe Town, Connah Hughes scored a brace, before Richard Sharratt added one. Craig Davies scored a consolation for Pontardawe.

Dinas Powys originally lead Aberbargoed Buds due to a James Marr goal, but a Kane Giffard brace gave them the victory.

Croesyceiliog came away from West End with a 4-1 victory. Jordan Jones and Zac Osborne each had a brace, whilst TJ Davies scored a superb stunning strike from distance as a consolation goal.

Division Three

Penydarren won their second game in as many days, after making a winning start against Newport City. Joshua Brogden scored a brace for Penydarren against Ynysygerwn, with Mike Evans scoring for the home side.

AFC Porth are still in search of the first win in Division Three. The Black Dragons thought they had it after Connor Berry’s strike, but Scott Lewis struck in stoppage time for Albion Rovers.

Trethomas Bluebirds came away from Chepstow with the three points. Adam Raymond continued his goalscoring form after his move from Goodwick United, alongside Tom Neville and Ricky Jones. Cameron Pritchard and Rhys Williams scored for Chepstow.

After holding Trefelin and Treharris in their first two games, Ely Rangers were powerless to resist the attacking threat of Panteg, who may emerge as promotion contenders. Brad Baker, Lewis Iles, Luke Dyke and Jordan Ryan were all on the scoresheet for Panteg.

Lewis Miller scored the only goal of the game against Penrhiwceiber Rangers, helping Pontyclun to victory.

Tredegar beat Treharris Athletic Western, with Josh Evans scoring the only goal for Treharris.

Trefelin finally had lift off with their first win of the season. Damon Thomas, Jamie Latham and Jordan Edwards scoring for Richie Ryan’s men, whilst Pad Pipe and Rhys Wood scored for Newport City.

Jack Start and Shane Brewer gave Treowen Stars victory over Caerau.
