Bangor City will win Cymru Alliance title says Leon Field

Prestatyn Town manager Leon Field says it is Bangor City who will the Cymru Alliance title and not their Denbighshire rivals Rhyl.

The Lilywhites have been assessed as potential title contenders, with the Rhyl Journal predicting they will pip the Citizens to the Cymru Alliance title, come to the end of the season.

However, joint-manager of the Seasiders, Leon Field believes that it will be just the one season for Craig Harrison’s men this season.

Field said: “I don’t believe they will have the personnel to compete against Bangor City,”

“Let’s not take away the talent they have in the ranks Eddie and Willo (Eddie Maurice-Jones and Gareth Wilson) have brought in some great signings but like us they’re in transition.

It’s all about both sides getting to grips with their best side going forward I see them in the top four.

They are a side we have to show respect too but come tomorrow at kick off we will be aiming to get one over on our rivals.”

Prestatyn welcome Rhyl to Bastion Gardens this evening in the first Denbighshire Derby of the season, just three games in.

The two have been used to competing in the Welsh Premier League, but now the Derby will take place in the second tier, as the two top-flight sides battle it out for local bragging rights.

“As for experience in derby days, I’d imagine they don’t come any bigger than Rhyl.

The rivalry is good the banter has been going on for a while and we will be going out there tomorrow to make sure our fans go home the happier with three points and the bragging rights.

Bragging rights has to go towards the fans. For us managers and players it’s all about continuing on our development journey.

We’re an unknown entity and Rhyl will see this first hand come to the end of the game tomorrow the lads’ coaches and staff are buzzing for this game.”

It’s been two defeats so far as the Kinmel Bay boss gets to terms with life as manager of the second tier club, following the success last season.

Those defeats have been to two former Premier League clubs in Airbus Broughton and Porthmadog, games in which the Seasiders have been competitive in.

“We’ve definitely seen a massive togetherness with the lads we’ve gelled really well in a short period of time

I felt we could of still got something out of the game against Porthmadog. We were wasteful in the final third at times we had changes that we need to be taking.”
