Bala Town have announced that Conall Murtagh, who works as a fitness coach for Liverpool FC, has re-joined the club as a “backup to the squad”.
The Northern Irishman turned out for the Lakesiders on two occasions last season, and will play around his work commitments for Liverpool, who currently sit at the top of the Premier League table.
The 33-year-old became a Doctor in 2017, after finishing his PhD in Sports Science at Liverpool John Moores University.
Murtagh has made over 150 appearances for Colin Caton’s side to date, after joining the North Wales side from Aberystwyth in the 2011 season.
He joined the Academy at Liverpool in the summer of 2012, a position he would hold for five years before moving up to join the first team.
Murtagh, who began his playing career with Ballymena United, has also played for clubs including Crusaders, Rhyl, Wrexham and The New Saints.
As well as being qualified in the medical side of the game, the central midfielder is also a UEFA B Licence qualified coach.
The official club website confirmed that Murtagh will wear the number 18 shirt this season.
The Lakesiders currently sit seventh in the Welsh Premier League, having won two and lost two of their opening four games.
