As the season progresses and with the transfer window now shut, we continue to review how some of Wales’ former domestic footballers are getting on in the English pyramid.
Plenty have managed to make their way towards the English system after playing in Wales and we assess their performances this weekend.
Christian Doidge – Bolton
Doidge made his first start for Bolton today, since his switch from Forest Green Rovers. The striker started the season on form for Forest Green, but failed to find the net on his debut for the Wanderers, as they lost 2-1 to QPR.
Connel Rawlinson – Port Vale
Rawlinson started for Port Vale as they secured a 2-0 victory over Northampton Town. The former TNS man has had a strong start to life at Port Vale since his move. However, the centre back had to make do with a start at right-back for the League Two outfit today.
Scott Quigley – Port Vale
The on-loan Port Vale striker has found game time limited at the club since his loan switch from Blackpool this summer, and this game was much the same as the striker was an unused substitute.
Jason Oswell – Morecambe
Oswell didn’t make the squad as Morecambe lost 2-0 to Crawley Town in League Two. Oswell has struggled to break into the starting eleven since making the move from Stockport County.
Tom Bradshaw – Milwall
Bradshaw joined Milwall from Barnsley, becoming the club’s record signing in the process. However, the striker had to settle for a place on the bench as Milwall conceded a late equaliser against Leeds United.
Gary Roberts – Wigan
Roberts, who formerly played for a number of Welsh Premier League clubs inlcuding Rhyl, failed to make the matchday squad as Wigan lost 2-0 to Brentford in the Sky Bet Championship.
Sam Finley – Accrington Stanley
Former TNS midfielder Sam Finley started and played 90 minutes for League One outfit Accrington Stanley as they drew 1-1 with Fleetwood Town. The midfielder picked up a yellow card in the process.
Andrew Mangan – Accrington Stanley
The experienced striker only spent a short period of time with Welsh Premier League outfit Bala Town, but the striker failed to make the 18 man squad as Stanley drew 1-1 with Joey Barton’s Fleetwood Town.
Jordan Lam – Hereford
Former Cardiff Met University winger Jordan Lam made the starting lineup for Hereford, as they lost at home to Ashton United. But, the winger made way for Lewis Hall after 63 minutes.
Callum Sainty – Hereford
Sainty made the bench for Hereford, but failed to make an appearance as Hereford were defeated by Ashton United.
