Barry Town United returned to third of the table, after beating Carmarthen Town at a windy Jenner Park Stadium.
Chris Hugh’s first goal of the season, gave Gavin Chesterfield’s men, their fifth consecutive home victory.
The Old Gold have now lost all four of their away games and haven’t won a game since the 8th September. They remain in the bottom two, with Llanelli Town.
Carmarthen had the first chance of the game. Luke Cummings played it to Mael Davies, who forced Lewis into a save, after breaking into the box from the far side.
The home side were presented with a few early chances, as Carmarthen invited pressure onto them, but frustrated them in the positions that Barry were forced to shoot from.
Barry had their own chance. Marcus Jones crossed to McLaggon, but the frontman’s header was tame.
Luke Cummings and Jordan Cotterill were both shown yellow cards, after a coming together.
The best chance of the first half was for Carmarthen. Luke Cummings curled an effort just outside the box, but Lewis palmed away his shot.
Ex-Linnet Tyrelle Webbe made a superb block to deny his former side, as he put his body on the line to block Momodou Touray.
Carmarthen went close again, with Webbe involved. His free-kick just needed a touch from Hanbury and Walters, but it sailed just wide of the post.
The home side opened the scoring early in the second half. Chris Hugh had the freedom of the left-hand side and he drilled his effort into the corner of Idzi’s goal.
Barry attempted to double their lead. Marcus Jones stung the hands of Idzi, before Touray blazed the ball over the bar, on the rebound.
Carmarthen continued to search for an equaliser and Lewis Baldwin went close. Cummings free-kick was met by the Old Gold defender, who headed just over the bar.
Neil Smothers altered his side as Jordan Vickers was sent off for Sean Hanbury, allowing Webbe to push forward, in a more attacking role.
The game began to slow down in intensity, as Barry tried to frustrate Carmarthen. Greg Walters sat deep in the midfield but attempted to bring his side into the game, with a number of passes.
Carmarthen substitute Jay Woodford was booked for a cynical foul on Thomas Fry, who attempted to break from a well-defended corner.
Jay Woodford used his strength to bundle off a Barry defender and power an effort at Lewis’ goal, but the Barry keeper was alert again to deny them a route back into the game.
There was also a chance for Barry as the game moved into stoppage time. Clayton Green crossed in, but Baldwin headed behind to deny McLaggon.
The home side held on for the victory, as they retained possession, by holding it in the corner, for a majority of stoppage time.
Barry Town United play again at Jenner Park Stadium when they welcome bottom side Llanelli Town next Friday. Carmarthen Town host Bala Town next Saturday at Richmond Park, aiming to get a first victory in over a month.
