Bangor City manager Craig Harrison has today left the Citizens to take up a role within Connah’s Quay Nomads’ coaching staff.
Harrison, who was announced as Bangor City manager in the summer, leaves the club after just five months at the VSM Stadium.
He will become the Nomads’ first-team coach alongside manager Andy Morrison and first-team coach and academy director Jay Catton.
The sensational move brings the six-time JD Welsh Premier League winner back to the top flight, a day before Nomads face The New Saints in what could be a crucial game in the title race.
Director of Football, Stephen Vaughan Jnr has taken temporary charge, as the club now finds a successor to Harrison.
Harrison, a former professional for Middlesborough, Preston North End and Crystal Palace, leaves Bangor fifth in the Huws Gray Alliance with five wins from nine games so far. Bangor play tomorrow against Mold Alexandra in Round One of the JD Welsh Cup.
He led The New Saints to a record number of wins on the spin during the 2016/2017 season, surpassing Ajax’s record which stood for 44-years as he guided The Oswestry-based outfit to yet another Welsh Premier League title.
But the influential coach will now be tasked with stopping his former side’s domination of the domestic scene, as JD Welsh Cup Nomads eye up the top spot.
They take on The New Saints on Saturday evening at 19:30 with the game broadcast live on S4C.
