The FAW have today announced that the Wales C team will return for a second fixture against England C in March, following a defeat at Jenner Park earlier this year.
The game will take place at the Peninsula Stadium, the home ground of National League Premier division side Salford City, following Wales’ 3-2 home defeat at the home of Barry Town United earlier this year.
Former Port Talbot Town and Carmarthen Town manager Mark Jones and former Swansea City midfielder Owain Tudur-Jones managed the Wales C outfit last time out, and have been asked to return to the dugout for the fixture in March.
The first match was a success, with both sides putting on a spectacle for fans. 700 fans turned out for the dual between the two rivals, with England C coming out the narrow victors with a 3-2 win.
Fejiri Okenabirhie scored a hat-trick against the Red Dragons last time out, but experienced JD Welsh Premier League stars Chris Venables and Mark Jones turned in a goal each as Wales put in a solid performance against their neighbours.
The Wales C squad was an all JD Welsh Premier League lineup, with players featuring from all corners of the country, including Cardiff Met, Bala Town, Bangor City and even Carmarthen Town.
There have been changes to the JD Welsh Premier League since the last fixture, with Caernarfon Town and Llanelli now in the top flight, and with Bangor now plying their trade in the second tier.
There were calls for Nathan Craig to feature last time out and the Cofis captain will be hopeful following a successful start to the season for the club.
Jones and Tudur-Jones will be eager to meet up with their squad ahead of the fixture, as they aim to take revenge on the Paul Fairclough’s Lions.
This will be the first game Wales C have played since their fixture against England C exactly one year ago, but England’s side beat Estonia Under-23s as recently as last month.
The game will take place on 19th March at Salford City’s ground, with a 7:45pm kick off.
