Caersws retain top spot in Mid Wales League – without kicking a ball

There was the potential for movement at the top of the Mid Wales League Division One this weekend, however Caersws retained the top spot – without even playing.

The only game in Division Two did see a change to the top three, as Waterloo leapfrogged Montgomery into third place.

Division One

Aberaeron 2-0 Builth Wells
Aberaeron made their home advantage count to move up to 7th place, with Builth Wells remaining mid table in ninth.
Carno 4-1 Churchstoke
Carno can finally look up the league table, instead of down at the bottom five teams after success over Churchstoke. Goals in the first half from Callum Page, Andy Cohen, Josh Matthews, and Geraint Jones secured a comprehensive win for the  home team.
Churchstoke enjoyed a much stronger second half, but they could only claw one goal back.
Kerry 2-5 Welshpool
It’s now been over a month since Kerry’s last league win, as Welshpool triumphed to go fourth.
Struggling Kerry did get at the visitors’ end,  but only Mat Mumford and Max McLaughlin could find the back of the net.
Llanidloes 0-0 Llandrindod
Defence has been key for both teams this season, so it’s no surprise that both sides kept a clean sheet.
Llanidoes could have moved level with Caersws, with this game in hand, but could only close the gap to two points.
Radnor Valley 2-3 Bow Street
The visitors made the most of their chances and good form to move up to twelfth place.
Radnor made a slow start to the game, and found themselves 2-0 down.
However in the second half the scores were level at 2-2, until Bow Street grabbed all three points with a last gasp winner.
Their goals came from Owen Young, Tom Wyn and Tom Williams

Division Two

Waterloo Rovers 2-1 Montgomery
Charlie Proctor’s brace was enough for his side to move above the visitors into third place.
Both teams still have at least a game in hand on Newbridge-on-Wye at the top of the table as they both continue to chase the top spot.
