Mid Wales Roundup: Plenty of goals as Aber Uni continue to struggle

There may have only been three fixtures but this yielded 10 goals and only one clean sheet in what was an exciting weekend in Mid Wales football.

In a weekend  of league action hindered by JD Welsh Cup action going ahead, just six sides took to the field in Mid Wales. But, there was plenty to report on.

Division One

Llanidloes 1 – 1 Llanfair
The hosts failed to go top of the league following the visit of sixth placed Llanfair.
After an even first half, both sides were scoreless headed into the break. But, Peter Rees put Llanidloes 1-0 in the second half; firing home after a goal mouth scramble. However the visitors equalised shortly after to share the spoils.

Division Two

Four Crosses 3 – 2 Dyffryn Banw

In  a tightly contested game Four Crosses moved above Dyffryn Banw into 6th place after playing just eight games. This was just their second home win of the season thanks to a late Steve Pugh goal.

It was the visitors who lead early on after converting from the spot. Kyle Wilson and Jake Edwards soon put the home side in control, going into the final few minutes. However Dyffryn found an equaliser only for Pugh to score with little over five minutes left.

Montgomery 3 – 0 Aber Uni
Aber Uni’s struggles continued as Montgomery were 3-0 victors in this one. This latest defeat leaves the students with a minus 15 goal difference after just six games.
The home side went into the break 1-0 up with a goal on 31 minutes. Nathan Ash had a good chance to equalise on 59 minutes but his shot was cleared off the line. Then two goals in the last ten minutes saw off the student’s resistance.
The win moves Montgomery closer to the top two with two games in hand on Newbridge, but there is a lot of football left to play this season.
