Barry Town United’s Macauley Southam-Hales is attracting interest from English Championship clubs according to reports.
The Barry right-back was been an influential figure in the Linnets backline this season, as they top the Welsh Premier League at the end of Phase One.
Football Insider says that Aston Villa and Ipswich Town are interested in offering the 22-year-old a route back into professional football.
Barnsley and Bolton Wanderers have also been keeping tabs on the Barry defender and have been impressed with what they’ve seen.
There was reported interest last month from Welsh Premier League champions The New Saints, but now they could be beaten by professional sides, looking to add Southam-Hales
Barry are unlikely to stand in the way of Southam-Hales, should he decide to join Jenner Park Stadium.
Southam-Hales joined Barry Town United having been released by Cardiff City, joining Barry in 2017.
This season he’s played a total of 20 times, scoring once and providing a number of assists for the Dragons frontline.
He was named in Sgorio commentator and Wales C team Manager Mark Jones’ Team of Phase One, alongside teammate Chris Hugh.
Macauley originally began his career as a central midfielder but was then converted into a right-back. In Barry’s first season in the Premier League, he was voted Manager’s Young Player of the Year and also the Players Player.
