Cardiff Met boss Christian Edwards says the club must tap into its potential after their League Cup win.
The Archers beat Division One side Cambrian & Clydach Vale to win the competition for the first time in the clubs history.
Having suffered defeat in their last three finals, including a defeat in the League Cup last year to The New Saints, Met have now got over their final hoo-doo.
The former Swans defender said: “We have huge potential, we’ve got 12,000 students at Cardiff Met so we can tap into those resources. Nights like tonight help that, our academy we didn’t have one four years ago we’ve got one.
“It’s start off and it can really grow the club for the future. This is the starting point. We need to push hard and really enjoying the moment this evening and then it’s back to work against Aberystwyth next week. “
The Cyncoed based side are in their third year of Welsh Premier League football, having seen three promotions in four years, as they made a remarkable rise through the Welsh Football League.
Earlier in the week, Edwards spoke about the club being on a journey, but Saturday’s Cup final win isn’t the final destination, according to the Met boss.
“It’s ongoing. Back in 2013, we won the Welsh Division Three against Trethomas Bluebirds on a Wednesday evening and what a phenomenal place to win there.
“We’ve won at Jenner Park and we’ve picked up the trophy but we still strive to do more.”
Adam Roscrow netted a brace in the Final to deliver Met their first piece of silverware since being a top-flight side.
Having been branded favourites by the bookmakers and the media, due to their Welsh Premier League status, it was a relief for the Archers to deal with the favourites tag.
“I’m very pleased for Adam, he’s scored two really good goals. Chris Baker for me was outstanding this evening.
“We are just delighted we crossed the line I was really nervous this week there was an expectation to win and we managed that expectation this time and we did it.
“We finally did it. We got across the line and we’ve put a senior trophy in the cabinet. Where that cabinet is I don’t know!
“Probably in my office for the next 12 months that’s where it will go!”
