Wales’ young star David Brooks made history at The Hensol Castle as he claimed two gongs at this evening’s FAW Awards.
The AFC Bournemouth midfielder won the FAW Player of the Year, as voted by Red Wall members, as well as winning the Young Player’s Player of the Year. His double this evening means is he the first Men’s Player to win both awards in the same year.
Brooks had been involved in the Under-21s side and made a smooth transition to the seniors, with a 10th cap in the offering on Sunday afternoon.
The 21-year-old has been in fine form for the Cherries this season, with six goals and four assists in his first Premier League season.
Speaking at the awards, Brooks said: “To get the award from the fans it’s a really nice touch and I can’t thank them enough.”
Elsewhere, Olympique Lyonnais and Wales midfielder Jess Fishlock was voted the Player of the Year by Supporters in the Women’s category.
Former Wales manager John Toshack was recognised for his years of service with the National Team as he was rewarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Wales Women’s captain Sophie Ingle was awarded the Player’s Player of the Year, whilst Wales male all-time record goalscorer Gareth Bale earned the respect of his peers in the same category.
Everton’s Elise Hughes was the Female Young Player of the Year.
The Media’s Choice Award was given to Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies.
