Penybont aiming to win title as quick as possible says Griffiths

Rhys Griffiths says he is aiming to win the title as quickly as possible following Saturday’s important win over title rivals Cambrian & Clydach Vale.

Goals from Cullen Kinsella and Luke Borrelli gave the Bridgend club a 12-point gap over Dane Williams’ men.

Penybont picked up their nineteenth victory of the season against an industrious Cambrian side.

Rhys Griffiths said: “It’s my job to make sure we don’t think it’s over. I expect us to win it, and we want to do it as quickly as possible.

The last thing we want to do now is to take our foot off the pedal.”

“I thought it was two quite even teams. In the first half, it was quite even for both teams. In the second half, it was an even half again and probably not so much quality from either team.”

Penybont’s unbeaten record has seen them win their important games. Earlier this year they beat Haverfordwest County and have now done the double over their nearest placed rivals Cambrian & Clydach.

“This season we’ve just said game at a time.

“That’s all we’ve done all season, in the past we’ve created targets.

We’ve said win these three games and we will be on x amount of points.”

Cambrian are such a good side, we haven’t thought about them until this week.”

“I think they’re a really good side. They’re a good club, their manager is spot on and I was really impressed with them.

Penybont will be aiming to go the whole season league season unbeaten with just games remaining.

Their only defeats have come to Welsh Premier League opposition in Barry Town United and Newtown.

They still have a Welsh Football League Cup semi-final to contest against Division Three outfit Ynysygerwn.

“We never really spoke about it until two or three games ago. It was the elephant in the room, but now it’s out and we’d love to do it.”
