Holywell Town relegated from Cymru Alliance as Penrhyncoch survive

There was final day drama in the final Huw’s Gray Alliance ever as Penrhyncoch stayed up at the expense of Holywell Town

Holywell Town suffered final day heartbreak as they were relegated from the Cymru Alliance.

Holywell Town did their job by beating bottom side Holyhead Hotspur convincingly. Aaron Pomeyie and Jamie McCall scored in the first half before Pomeyie scored a second.

However, it was what happened at Cae Baker which mattered. Cledan Davies scored on the hour mark before Cory Williams put Conwy Borough ahead with a brace. In the final eight minutes, Jon Evans brought Penrhyncoch level but there was Josh Shaw to put them infront. They held out and secured their second-tier status.

Relegation is dependent on Tier Two Licensing applications with a 30th April deadline. A club could receive a reprieve should anyone fail to obtain the licence on the first instance and then an appeal.

Despite going unbeaten in their final five fixtures with three wins and two draws, the Wellmen were unable to retain their Huws Gray Alliance status.

They will join Denbigh Town and Holyhead Hotspur in the third tier of Welsh football next season.
