Caerau Ely secured a vital win over promotion rivals Pontardawe Town.
Josh Spencer scored the important winning goal in the second half as the Cardiff side moved to within three points of a promotion spot.
Rameer Outlaw opened the scoring for the hosts before an equalising goal from captain Craig Davies.
In what was an end-to-end first half, the second half became an edgy affair as the two sides evenly battled it out.
Pontardawe’s Josh Dorward forced Elliot Matthews into action early on. From the resulting corner, Craig Davies had a diving header cleared off the line.
Caerau had their own opportunity after Jamal Roberts threaded the ball through to Rameer Outlaw, forcing Steven Reeve to dive.
Pontardawe received a huge let off when an undercut backpass saw Tom Fry play the ball through to Josh Spencer but Reeve blocked with his legs.
In a frantic few minutes, Pontardawe nearly took the lead. Joshua Dorward’s cross-hit shot forced Matthews to palm it to the path of Tom Buzzard but his rebounded effort was cleared on the line.
Having put high pressure onto the Pontardawe defence, Caerau took the lea. Rameer Outlaw rounded Reeve and slotted into an empty net.
In the last action of the half, Pontardawe drew level. Tyler Aylward found the path of the unmarked Craig Davies and touched it home from close range.
It became a scrappy affair with both sides failing to create the chances they did in the first half as each side sured themselves up.
Outlaw in search of his second goal headed just over the bar from Dylan Amin’s cross.
Caerau Ely took the lead with just fifteen minutes to go. Danny Hooper’s free-kick fell to Outlaw and he flicked it onto Josh Spencer who forced it in with his chest.
The Young Guns were able to see out any pressure from Pontardawe to hold on for the victory.
