STM Sports are celebrating after they were crowned winners of Division Two following a 3-2 away win over Aberbagoed Buds.

The Mellons win the league title with a game to spare, scoring over 100 goals in the process.

The Cardiff side knew before the match a point would be enough to seal the title. After leading 2-1 at the break, STM held out for victory at the Recreational Ground for a first ever Division Two title.

Despite winning Division Two, their promotion to the first FAW Championship South has been blocked. They failed their Tier Two Licence application and will now face an anxious wait on on the outcome of their appeal. STM Sports have a week to submit their appeal to the Football Association of Wales.

Title competitors Swansea University completed their season weeks ago, leaving STM Sports to be unchallenged in their run in for the title. Swansea University achieved the Tier Two Licence and have been promoted alongside Caerau Ely, who were also successful with their application.

It completes a remarkable rise through the Welsh pyramid system, having only won promotion to the South Wales Alliance League in 2010.

A number of the players who began with the club in the Cardiff Combination League have remained with the club through the last decade, including manager Dale Gardiner.
