The New Saints sign defenders Adam Hughes and Keston Davies

The New Saints have signed defenders Adam Hughes and Keston Davies.

The defensive duo are Scott Ruscoe’s first signings this summer as they prepare for their Champions League campaign.

Davies and Hughes have both been on trial at Park Hall, featuring in a number of friendlies, before putting pen to paper with the Welsh Premier League champions.

Wales Under-21s international Davies was released by the Swans this summer, having had two spells with his boyhood club.

He is the third Wales central defender to join the club after Ben Cabango and Jack Bodenham joined the club on loan last season.

The Swansea born defender spent last season on loan at League Two club Notts County, featuring a total of seven times for the Magpies. He had also played for Yeovil Town, the season before.

Upon signing for Swansea, Davies said: “I just want a run of games under my belt and play as many games as I can and do as well as I can.

“The New Saints are an established club in Wales. The facilities that are here have been beneficial to the whole league.

Formerly a defender at Tranmere Rovers, Adam Hughes joins from the English non-league scene. He had been playing for clubs such as Camel Laird, Marine and Warrington Town. It was at Marine that he played alongside TNS legend Pip Baker.

Hughes on his arrival at Park Hall said:“It’s not every day that a full-time club wants you to go in and play for them.

“Coming from that environment at Tranmere, it’s something that you dream about as a kid. I’m just made up that I’ve got the chance to go on and prove myself.”
