After a season which saw them play their home games in Cardiff and Aberdare, Pontypridd Town could be set for a return to the USW Sport Park in Treforest after work began on a new 3G pitch.
The Dragons played their home games at Leckwith Stadium in Cardiff and Aberaman Park, Aberdare in the 2018/19 campaign, after their home ground did not meet the requirements to host second tier matches.

However, it is expected that when the new pitch is completed, it will be suitable to host FAW Championship games, and should present the club with the opportunity to return to Pontypridd.
Head of the USW Sport Park, Steve Savage, said: “I’m delighted that the university continues to invest in student sport with works starting on the new 3G pitch replacing one of our grass football pitches.
“The 3G will support our student, staff and wider community programmes.
“The 3G will hopefully be complete by November 2019.”
The side, now managed by Jonathan Jones, looked set to be relegated back to the third tier after a difficult start to their campaign, but the arrival of Lee Kendall sparked a rapid improvement and they were able to secure their status; allowing them to compete in the inaugural FAW Championship South.
