Carmarthen Town: Former Swansea defender Kristian O’Leary appointed new manager

Carmarthen Town have appointed Kristian O’Leary as their new first-team manager.

O’Leary replaces Danny Thomas – who took over from Neil Smothers in October – Thomas will remain with the club as O’Leary’s assistant manager.

Ex-Swansea defender O’Leary has previous Cymru Premier managerial experience with Neath.

He previously worked on the first-team coaching staff with Garry Monk at Swansea City.

The 42-year-old said: “I am delighted to be involved with Carmarthen Town who have a fantastic history in the Cymru Premier.

“My focus is to improve results and ensure the club remains in the top tier of Welsh football for years to come.”

A statement from Carmarthen said: “Kristian brings with him a wealth of playing and managerial experience at the highest level, with a hunger to be successful in the Cymru Premier.”

Carmarthen are winless this season and are five points adrift of nearest placed Penybont.

O’Leary’s first game in charge of Carmarthen will be against Cardiff Metropolitan at Cyncoed Campus on November 16.
