Abergavenny Town have appointed Ben Murphy as their new first-team manager.
Murphy recently left Ynysddu Welfare has replaced Ben Bannon who left the Pennies in November.
The 36-year-old takes up his first managerial post in the Welsh League – Murphy spent twenty years at Ynysddu – three years as a manager.
Having been appointed, Murphy expressed his delight in taking up the role with his new club.
“Easily the hardest decision I’ve ever made but I know it’s the right one,” tweeted the ex Ddus boss.
“I feel unbelievably lucky to be given the opportunity to manage a club and squad with so much potential.
“I’m absolutely buzzing for the opportunity and I can not wait to get started.
“The potential at the club is incredible and with the right attitude, anything is possible there.
“Thank you to Ynysddu for giving me the opportunity to manage the club I love, I’ve loved every minute of it.”
A club representative said upon his appointment: “Ben stood out in a pool of very good candidates that were interviewed.
“He impressed with his qualities of professionalism, determination and hard work.
“Coupled with a sound knowledge of and contacts in Gwent football alongside an impressive record of success during his time with Ynysddu Welfare.”
The Monmouthshire side currently sits 11th in the Welsh League Division One after Bannon’s arrival.
