Ponty Town extended their unbeaten run at the sport park with a resounding 6-0 victory against rivals Taffs Well.
Six different scorers were on target for the hosts as goals from Aiden Lewis, Kareem Leigh, Luke Gullick, Lee Baldock, Lewis Ellis and Tyrrelle Webbe made it twelve goals scored in two games.
It means Ponty steer eleven points clear of relegation whilst Taffs Well extend their winless run to five games, keeping them in the drop zone.
The Dragons looked relatively unchallenged throughout the game as they comfortably put the result beyond doubt, with the Wellmen struggling to keep up with their pressure during large parts of the game.
The home side registered the first chance of the game with Lee Baldock’s corner causing panic for the visitors, resulting in goalkeeper Cael Jones punching the ball out to James Bloom who fired his effort wide of the post.
Pontypridd opened the scoring in the 11th minute through a low long-range effort courtesy of Aiden Lewis.
Cael Jones looked to have it covered as he parried the ball up into the air, but was unable to stop the ball from bundling into the net
Well almost levelled straight away through winger Dylan Jones as his effort from the edge of the area was pushed onto the post by goalkeeper Giannis Michail.
The hosts kept up their pressure and nearly bagged a second through Aiden Lewis who rattled the post from outside the box as the keeper stood rooted to the spot.
Pontypridd doubled their lead as Baldock scored with a strike that took a fortunate deflection which made it impossible to stop, in a similar position to the first goal.
The home side’s dominance continued in the second half as Leigh bagged a deserved goal for his determination to make it three with a superb strike.
Leigh doing well to get on the end of Lewis’ cross and fired the ball at the underside of the crossbar and into the net.
The misery continued for the away side who conceded a fourth goal a few minutes later. Luke Gullick’s rapid break-away forced Cael Jones to come off his line, with Tyrrell Webbe picking up the loose ball and slotting into an empty net.
Baldock’s corners created even more problems as the hosts bagged a fifth goal on the hour mark, with Gullick joining the scoresheet with a snapshot header.
Pontypridd then added another as Lewis’ ball into the box found substitute Lewis Ellis who slotted home coolly to make it six for the hosts
