Will the Nomads overcome their Park Hall hoodoo to showcase their title ambitions?

The New Saints and the Connah’s Quay Nomads go head to head this weekend – and the visitors will be aiming to get over their torrid record at Park Hall to prove their title credentials.

Andy Morison’s men have been excellent form of late and have recorded victories in each of their last four games and go into this weekend’s game, level on points with The New Saints.

A win for the visitors would put them at the top of the table to end Phase One of the JD Cymru Premier; and they certainly have the quality with the likes of Michael Bakare and Jamie Insall to hurt the defending Champions at the back.

Insall, in particular; has been in sublime form for the Nomads this season, scoring 13 times in 20 appearances and he will be looking to punish the New Saints, who have suffered four defeats so far this campaign.

Scott Ruscoe’s side also struggled in their last home game, and they needed two late goals from Greg Draper and Dean Ebbe to ovecome Cefn Druids at Park Hall.

They also tasted defeat before Christmas to 10-man Cardiff Met at home before Christmas; and the Nomads should relish the opportunity of facing The New Saints this weekend, especially with the form they are currently in.

This is a very strong Nomads side and Morrison will hope they have learned from past lessons of facing The New Saints to defeat them and move to the top of the table.

A win would be the perfect medicine for the in-form Nomads to push on further in Phase Two, and it will potentially give them the confidence they need to win the JD Cymru Premier this season.’

Their defence will be essential as well. The Nomads have conceded the least amount of goals in the league so far this season; having let in a mere 15 goals in 21 games and keeping the prolific Draper quiet could prove pivotal.

The New Zealander has been sensational again for The New Saints throughout this campaign; netting on 18 occasions in 20 appearances for Ruscoe’s men.

It is all set to be a mouthwatering clash to end Phase One in the Welsh top flight, and it is a huge game for both sides; but arguably more for the Nomads, who will be seeking to end their nightmare form at Park Hall on Saturday evening; with the game getting underway at 17:15.
