Cardiff Metropolitan 2-1 Briton Ferry: Archers move to second

Cardiff Metropolitan dominated possession against Briton Ferry Llansawel as Madison Schrupbach on track for back to back top goal scorer in the league in a 2-0 win at Cyncoed Campus

CARDIFF Met started off most brightly of the two teams with numerous plays in the final third, which gave the Briton’s defence something to think about in the opening minutes

In the 9th min Cardiff Met made a strong attack down the left-hand side by Aimee Leigh Dagnell as she produced a great delivery into the box but no one was there to finish. Moments later Robyn Pinder challenged the Briton goal but only finding goalkeeper Courtney Young with a great save.

In the 18th min, Cardiff Met’s attack allowed Sophie Hancocks to deliver a brilliant through ball to Madison Schupbach who slotted it bottom right giving Young no chance which made it 1-0 to Cardiff Met  

Cardiff Met continued to apply the pressure on the Briton defence as they won a free kick in the 20th min, Captain Pinder stepped up with a great strike which was parried away well.

The game opened up for Briton in the 31st min, as they created counter attacks from miss placed passes but didn’t take advantage of these opportunities  

The last 10 minutes of the half was dominated by Cardiff Met who kept it from Briton but lacked the final pass in the Briton half

Cardiff Met continued there run of good play as they forced a corner in the 50th min, corner taken by Schrupbach to the back post was headered down by unmarked Grace Amelia Corne getting her first goal of the season, which made the score line 2-0

In the 61st min, Briton struggled to create chances in their short spells of possession as Cardiff Met kept the pressure on their defence.

Substitute Annabel Davies narrowly missed the post in the 64th minute keeping the score line at 2-0

Cardiff Met won a free-kick which was in shooting distance as Schupbach clipped the top of the bar in the 70th min

In the final 10 minutes Briton made more chances in the second half against new keeper in goal Katie Young who parried chances away.
