Cardiff Metropolitan defeated Aberystwyth Town 3-1 as they began Phase Two with a victory at Cyncoed Campus.

Goals in either half from Eliot Evans and a Will Evans strike gave Met the victory after Alhaghi Touray Sisay levelled up for Aber after Eliot Evans’ opening goal.

Aberystwyth Town goalkeeper Connor Roberts was red carded in the second-half and from the man disadvantage, the Met benefited.

The Archers top the Play-off Conference group as they move ahead of the Cefn Druids on the virtue of goal difference.

It was a fine display for the hosts. Cardiff Met always looked on top the whole game and the help of the clinical Evans duo sealed the win for the Archers with a great attacking threat the whole game from the Met.

Aberystwyth drew the first save out of Will Fuller as an attack down the left resulted in Fuller parrying Marc Williams’ shot away.

Fuller’s save proved vital as they took the lead in the tenth minute.

Eliot Evans sprinted down the left flank after a long-ball over the top and chipped a shot over the on-rushing Connor Roberts.

Aberystwyth gave Met a taste of their own medicine though as they scored an equaliser on the half-hour mark having seen Roberts save Will Evans’ snapshot.

Touray Sisay’s soft shot from six yards out went down the middle of the goal to bring the Seasiders level.

The second-half didn’t provide many meaningful chances but the game burst into life in the final quarter.

Goalkeeper Connor Roberts made an accidental foul as he collected the ball but caught the head of substitute Dion Philips, conceding a penalty in the process.

Roberts was shown a straight red card, which saw youngster Alex Pennock come on in his place.

Talisman Eliot Evans stepped up and hit his spot-kick straight down the middle.

The hosts made the most of the man advantage as they furthered their lead five minutes from time.

Will Evans moved down the right flank before cutting inside the box to power home a shot into the roof of Pennock’s net.
