Welsh international Andy King to leave Leicester City on free transfer this summer

Leicester City have confirmed Wales midfielder Andy King will leave the club this summer after 16 years with the East-Midlands outfit.

The 31-year-old, who is currently on loan at Huddersfield Town in the Sky Bet Championship, has made 378 appearances for the Foxes, scoring 62 times.

The Welshman has been a Foxes player for the entirety of his senior career, but he has also had loan spells with Swansea City, Derby County, Rangers and he is now plying his trade in West Yorkshire, with the Terriers.

Ayiawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, the Leicester City chairman, has heaped praise on what the midfielder has achieved during his time at the club.

“Andy has been through everything with us and is an amazing guy – I’m so grateful to him,” he told the BBC.

“He is the only player still here that was with the club when King Power took over 10 years ago. He’s been a massive part of what the club has achieved in that time and earned the respect of so many people.”

King was part of the side which helped Leicester City claim the Premier League title during their unforgettable 2015/2016 season, as well as making history – by becoming the first player to win the top three divisions with the same club during the Premier League era.
