STM Sports return for pair Conteh and Worsley

STM Sports have announced the return of Lamin Conteh and Chris ‘Nipper’ Worsley ahead of the new season.

The duo left the club midway through last campaign, a few months after the pair helped The Mellons to the Division Two championship and promotion to the Cymru South.

But after the Nathaniel MG Cup runners-up were told by FAW they would be relegated from Division One, STM have acted quickly to bring in the services of Conteh and Worsley.

“I’ve played with and managed these boys for a number of years and I know what they are capable of,” manager Dale Gardiner said.

“I’ve watched the pair of them win games on their own over the years. Both are ridiculously talented. “Having seen and spoke to them both recently they both have seemed to have been training hard whilst they have been away and look hungrier ever.

“Forget all the negativity around the club at the moment we at STM have always risen to any challenge or hurdle put in our way.

“Having thee pair back only makes us better equipped to do this.

Conteh, who scored six goals in 16 appearances before his departure, says he is looking forward to being back at the club following his time to balance work and playing for the club.

“I never really left the club but work had just stopped me from playing,” he said.

“I have no desire to play for any club, why would I? “I’ve got everything I need right here.

“I just can’t wait to get my boots on again and get back with the boys.”

Worsley, who scored five goals in 26 appearances, said he is looking forward to being back.

“I’ve been playing football non-stop my whole life it seemed and felt I needed a few months break from the game.

“I’m now back where I belong and feel better than ever and ready to go. Who better to do it with, than the club I’ve played for all my life.”
