Caernarfon Town have announced the contract extension of first-team manager Huw Griffiths, signing a two-and-a-half-year deal until 2023.
Griffiths joined the club in January 2020 and took charge of the Cofis following the departure of Sean Eardley to Llandudno.
The Cymru Premier side have made a positive start to the campaign and are currently fifth in the table, just two points behind fourth-placed Barry Town.
Cofis chairman Paul Evans expressed his delight at the news of Griffiths’ contract extension.
In a club statement, he said, “As a Board, we are all delighted to secure Huw’s services for the next two and a half years.
“We have been very impressed with how he has dealt with such a very difficult season due to the pandemic and believe he can push the club towards European football.
“From a personal point of view, I really enjoy working with Huw. He is hugely experienced and very professional in the way he goes about the job and I believe he has already proved that he’s a perfect fit for us.
“The way he has kept us competitive this season, despite a hugely reduced budget and the many player departures last summer, has been extremely impressive.
“Having spoken to him often over the past months of the clubs’ hopes for the future, of qualifying for Europe and breaking the monopoly at the top of the Cymru Premier League, I know Huw has the same aspirations as we do and so securing his services is the first step towards us reaching our goals.”
Commenting on the news, Huw Griffiths stressed his excitement after committing his future to the club.
“I’m absolutely delighted to have, this afternoon, agreed a contract with Caernarfon Town Football Club,” he said.
“I have known for many years how very special the Caernarfon fans are, and since my very first contact with the Chairman and members of the Board in February 2020, I realised there were some very special people running the club too.
“They have a clear vision for the future of this Club and I’m extremely proud and honoured to be a part of their vision.
“There is a lot of hard work and many challenges in front of us all now, during this transition period for the Club – I can’t wait to get going once again!
“One word about my feelings about the contract and challenge ahead – ‘superb’!”
