Barry Town and Bala Town are both still looking for their first league victories of the season, after a goalless draw at Jenner Park.
With both sides struggling to get the killer ball, a draw was a fair result.
The first-half was an even affair, with chances falling to both sides. The earliest chance came to Barry, after Nat Jarvis headed the ball narrowly wide of the post. Barry got another chance a few minutes later, when McLaggon had a great run through the middle of the pitch, and the ball ended with Green whose shot was blocked by Kieran Smith.
Bala’s first-half chances were mainly from outside the box. Oliver Shannon had two shots in quick succession, with one blocked and one flying over the bar. Kieran Smith also had a crack from distance, but his shot was just wide of the goal.
The second half was an equally scrappy affair, although Bala did seem to have a slight upper hand. Even then, the majority of shots from both sides were long range and didn’t threaten either goalkeeper.
The introduction of Marcus Day in the final 15 minutes did give Barry some attacking impetus. Day’s direct running caused some problems for Bala’s defence, but it didn’t lead to a goal.
Bala had plenty of corner kicks, but failed to take advantage of them, with Mike Lewis comfortably collecting the majority of them. The only hiccup for the Barry goalkeeper was in stoppage time, when he spilt a corner, but no Bala player was able to take advantage of the opportunity.
