Transfer deadline day: Summer window set to close for Welsh clubs

Transfer deadline day herewith the three top tiers of Welsh football all able to make some last-minute moves in the summer transfer window.

The window will slam shut at 23:00 this evening but any deals involving Cymru Premier clubs are expected to take place earlier or be announced later.

A whole schedule of fixtures have been arranged this evening, meaning that any deals that were in the pipeline will need to be completed soon, to avoid a busy day for what are mainly volunteer secretaries.

For the first time, the third level of Welsh football, which has 64 clubs in the Ardal Leagues, has a player registration window imposed on them.

In the professional game, there is also the international break to contend with. Players have joined up with their respective national teams, making any deals that little bit harder, whilst also affecting preparations for some crucial 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Already, a number of Welsh senior team players have been on the move in the summer and there still could be more to come.

Goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey joined Burnley on a free transfer from Crystal Palace, meanwhile, Harry Wilson after 16-years at Anfield, moved to Fulham on a permanent transfer.

One move likely to happen is Daniel James, who looks set to leave Manchester United after two seasons, joining Premier League rivals Leeds United.

Kieffer Moore has been linked with a move away from Cardiff City with Wolverhampton Wanderers interested, however, after signing Hwang Hee-chan on loan from RB Leipzig, a move away from South Wales seems unlikely.
