The Llandyrnog and District Summer League returned with a bang this week with the first two matchdays taking place on Tuesday and Thursday that has seen Henllan and Llandyrnog sitting top of the table.
The annual tournament began on Tuesday evening with some early shocks as current holders Llangynhafal fell to a heavy 8-0 defeat to Cefn thanks to Jake Walker’s five goals as well as Rhydian Williams, Owain Roberts and Elis Davies opening their goalscoring tallies.
A Llyr Davies goal gave Rhewl a 1-0 win away at Caerwys whilst Clawddnewydd and Llanrhaeadr played out a 2-2 draw. Another draw saw Trefnant and Nantglyn share the points in a 3-3 thriller.
Llandyrnog put four past Llanfair with goals coming Harry Roberts and Craig Jones aswell as a brace from Josh Jones in a 4-2 win.
Sam Jones, Nedw Clwyd, David Lawson-Cooke, Mathew Jones and two from Tomos Clwyd Edwards made sure that Henllan took the points away at Ysceifiog in their 6-2 victory but it was Cefn that topped the table on Tuesday evening.
Onto Thursday evening and it was all change at the top of the table as early leaders Cefn fell to a 1-0 defeat against Ysceifiog with Mike Guest on the scoresheet.
Rhewl hosted Llanrhaeadr which saw the visitors win 3-1 thanks to Tomos Hywel, Dyfed Baldry and Osian Davies’ goals meanwhile Nantglyn won 2-1 against Caerwys with goals coming from Gruff Roberts and Geraint Jones
There was plenty of goals between Llanfair and Llangynhafal as it finished 5-2 aswell as at Llandyrnog as proceedings finished 4-3 with a last minute winner for the hosts against Clawddnewydd.
It was Henllan who ended the evening top of the table (on goal difference!) with their 6-1 win against Trefnant with Ed Jones, Mathew Jones and two braces from Dewi Jones and Nico Clwyd securing the three points.
