Karl Lewis stepping down as Llantwit Major manager

Llantwit Major have announced that first-team manager Karl Lewis will step down at the end of this season.

He leaves the Prince Moomin’s Palace club after guiding the club to the JD Cymru South title this season Lewis will step down after their final game.

The news will come as a shock, Lewis has been at the club for over six years and has been a huge part of the club’s transformation.

In a statement released by the club, Lewis said that given the status of the Tier One License outcome and the incredible season they have had he has achieved all he can.

“It has been a privilege to represent the club over the past six seasons,” he said in an emotional statement uploaded on social media.

“I can’t thank the players, fans, staff, and board enough for their support and efforts during this time.

“We have fought through a pandemic and achieved so much, culminating in our historic league win.”

The news will could as a double blow for the Llantwit fans this week. With the club being denied promotion to the JD Cymru Premier after failing their license appeal.

Lewis will take charge of his last game for the club a week on Saturday, where they will travel to Cwmbran Celtic for their final game of the season.

Llantwit Major’s response to Lewis’ departure was: “No man has ever done more for our club and he will be missed by all staff and supporters.”

The club also described Lewis as a Llantwit icon and wished him the best for the future.

It’s not known what is next for Lewis or who will be his successor at Llantwit
