Swansea University hosted Trefelin BGC at Sketty Lane on a mild Swansea evening as both sides were looking to improve their form in the Cymru South.
Trefelin dominated the early part of the game, and the first big chance came on 5 minutes, Damon Thomas had a shot which went over the bar. Moments later, a cross which was floated in by Mason Jones-Thomas skimmed off the bar but the home side managed to clear it away.
Trefelin then turned possession into the first goal of the night. It was a lovely floated ball into the box from a corner which found Joe Clarke. He headed it towards goal and it went through the legs of Goodwin and into the net.
Uni then created their first chance of the night, Jack Rosser picked up the ball and ran at the Trefelin defence. He found some space just outside the area but it was a tremendous block from Steve Berry. The ball then fell to George Sellick but his shot went over the bar.
The students then levelled the score line on the 24th minute. An unfortunate miscommunication at the back for Trefelin meant that the ball found Warren Hudson who played it through to Adam Morgan who finished in coolly to bring Swansea University back into the game.
The away side then regained the lead 11 minutes before half time at Sketty Lane. The ball found itself to Roan Piper who drove forward and got past Nathan Townsend and got a shot off. It didn’t look to be going in but a massive mistake from the debut keeper for the second time of the evening, gifted the away side the lead much to the delight for the away side’s following.
Trefelin then went 3-1 up just before half time. A nicely timed ball into the box found Damon Thomas on the far post. He headed it to the keeper’s right and into the net and the away side we’re now in dreamland.
The away side then made it 4-1 11 minutes into the second half, a lovely floated corner was delivered into the box which found Joe Clarke who was unmarked and the defender had the easy task of tapping it in and he got his second of the night.
Swansea University then pulled a goal back on the 72nd minute through Adam Morgan who got his second of the night. A nice passing style was developing. The ball was played to Hubert Matras, who beat the offside trap, the tall midfielder then played the ball into the box. The ball found Adam Morgan who tapped the ball into the net to make it 4-2.
There was no real chances in the last stage of the game and the away side secured a fantastic 4-2 win against Swansea Uni side who just lacked ideas going forward.
