A defender released by Cardiff City this summer has joined a club in the third tier of Welsh domestic football.

Jac Clay was released by Cardiff City earlier this summer and had been on the search for a new club. His quest for a new team has seen him end up at Pontyclun in the Ardal South West.

The 20-year-old is a one-time Wales under-17 international and played in the same squad as Charlie Savage and Huddersfield Town forward Patrick Jones. He was released this summer alongside Aiden McNamara who ended up at Cymru Premier outfit Haverfordwest County.

He is one of six new signings at Ivor Park with Sam l’Homme, Glyndwr Davies, James Hughes, and Chris Darlington joining from Ynysygerwn, Pencoed Athletic, Dinas Powys, and Llanrumney United respectively. Darlington and Davies both featured in Clun’s 2-1 win over Cardiff Corries last Saturday (October 21).

Pontyclun are bottom of the league and are three points adrift of safety at the time of Clay’s arrival. The Rhondda Cynon Taf-based outfit recently underwent a manager change with Scott Dryden returning to Cefn Cribwr, which saw Pete Banks named as his replacement.

Elsewhere in the Ardal South West, Pontyclun’s relegation rivals Port Talbot Town have made a series of signings. Jake Stephens has made the move from league rivals Mumbles Rangers, whilst Liam Hughes has joined from St Thomas Stars. Left-sided winger Jamie Pritchard has penned terms from Waunarlwydd Galaxy meanwhile.

Stephens made his debut against South Gower and kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 win. Forward Pritchard has featured four times since joining and made the move from the Swansea Senior League, where he had seven goals and two assists in six games for Waunarlwydd.

Mumbles Rangers, who signed Lee Trundle in the summer have added former Llanelli Town forward Nathan Logan to their ranks. The 31-year-old was at Garden Village in the West Wales Premier League before joining Mumbles earlier this month. He got three goals and four assists with Garden Village prior to his move to Sketty Lane.
