Adran Premier fixtures: Cardiff City begin title defence away to Wrexham

Reigning two-time Adran Premier champions Cardiff City will begin the defence of their title away to Wrexham on the opening day of the season.

The Bluebirds will be looking to emulate Cardiff Met and Swansea City in becoming the only clubs to win the Welsh League three times in a row. Their season will begin at The Rock, as they travel north to take on Wrexham. The Red Dragons, who are fresh off of the back of their American tour, finished a commendable third in last season’s Adran Premier, and they will be looking to go to the next level this year.

Last season’s runners-up, Swansea City, will begin their season away, this time against Cardiff Met. The Swans are under new management this season, as former Yeovil boss Jamie Sherwood takes over. He will be looking for a good start to the new campaign, as they take on a Met side who finished sixth last year, an unusual position for a team as successful as they are.

The league’s newest team, Briton Ferry, will play their first Adran Premier game away to Aberystwyth Town. Ferry, who beat Llandudno 4-0 in the Adran Playoff in Newtown, have kept hold of almost every player who got them promoted last year. Their opponents, Aberystwyth, are under new management, as former Swansea manager Chris Church takes over, with former Aber captain Kelly Thomas taking on the role as first team coach.

The Adran Plate winners, TNS, head south for their first league game of the season, as they take on Barry Town. The Saints, who have moved to a semi-pro model, are another team with a new manager at the helm, as Shauna Duffy takes over from Greg Draper. Barry, on the other hand, have been very busy in the transfer window so far, and will be looking to record their highest ever finish this season.

The Adran Premier begins on September 15th, with the final games of phase one taking place on February 2nd.
