Lamb exits Aberystwyth

Carl Lamb’s second spell at Aberystwyth Town has come to an abrupt end after the West Wales club let go of the 31 year old striker.

Speaking exclusively to Clwb Pel-Droed, he said ‘He didn’t want to leave and was preparing for Sundays league opener with The New Saints.’ After receiving a call from the management team, Lamb mistakenly presumed it was about this weekends game only to be told he was no longer required, just weeks after signing for the club. Lamb went on to say:

‘I’ve put my all into them for six weeks without pay and to spring this on me is out of order.’

The reasons given to the former Rhyl front man for his departure was an overspend in the budget, meaning players needed to be cut from the squad. Fans of Aber may be a bit baffled as to why Lamb was registered as a Green and Black player and assigned a squad number only to be told his services were no longer required. Despite having several strikers in the squad, Lamb brought with him an impressive goal scoring record having served time at Rhyl, The New Saints and Bangor. He has also plied his trade  for Blue Square North outfit Droylsden. He has also had spells at Witton Albion and Chesterfield as well as a short spell in Australia.

After impressing the Aberystwyth management with succesful pre-season matches at Caernarfon and Porthmadaog, Lamb was registered for the coming season, he played only 30 minutes as an official Aber player, a run out against Welsh League Division one side, Afan Lido. It was after this match that Lamb received a call informing him he would no longer be needed. Lamb continued to say

‘It’s nothing to do with me from my side, this was a decision they made, it’s bang out of order.’

Asked whether he was looking to get back into the Premier League as soon as possible, Lamb responded saying ‘He wasn’t in a rush and was keeping his options open.
