Chepstow 0 Bridgend Street 2
Bridgend Street were fortunate to achieve a 2-0 away victory over Chepstow on Saturday.
An even contest throughout, with a scoreline that maybe flattered the visitors overall.
Striker Nicky Davison was tripped in the box and got up to convert his penalty on twenty minutes.
Chepstow went close on several occasions, but were denied by a great display by Nicky King on his return to the club he began last season with.
At the beginning of the second half the hosts forced a series of corners, at least five, only to see Street increase their lead on 50 minutes with a breakaway goal. Full back Richie Noyes released Jeff White on the right wing, who put a perfect cross in for young Harry Burge to finish after running the length of the pitch from the corner he was defending.
Street managed to keep a clean sheet thanks to another great save from King from a free kick and a Geoff Hurst style bounce off the bar on to the goal line.
Former Street striker Jaques Tertois came on for the final quarter and his yellow card could easily have been doubled after some strange challenges. Street up to second and will be looking to improve on last year’s third place.
