Boost for Ynyshir Albions as groundshare agreed at Dinas Park

Ynyshir Albions have been given a lifeline after a ground share at Dinas Park was agreed.

The club have reached an agreement with AFC Porth and the Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council to stage their home games at the ground for the 2020/21 season.

A move away from the Ynyshir Oval was required if the Buns were to meet the Tier Three requirements.

Ynyshir saw their Tier Three Certificate application rejected by the First Instance Body.

Announced on their Facebook feed, the Buns said: “We are delighted to confirm we have reached an agreement with AFC Porth and RCT CBC to ground share for the 2020/21 season.

“The agreement has now been sent as part of our appeal to the FAW.

“We’d like to take this opportunity to clarify that AFC Porth have shown us nothing but support during this challenging time.

“The restructuring of the FAW leagues is complex, and the initial pushback from AFC Porth was justified.

Tomorrow, the FAW’s Independent Appeals panel will meet to discuss the appeals from those who were rejected.

Ynyshir announced previously they would be appealing against the decision and are now in a stronger position in their application after the groundshare was finalised.

After the outcome of the FAW’s appeals, the governing body will then announce on Friday the makeup of the four Tier Three leagues with two divisions of 16 making up the Southern region.

Should Ynyshir not be admitted to the new regional leagues, their move to Dinas Park will be cancelled.

“Although the groundshare gives no guarantees of our participation, it puts us in a far stronger position,” continued the club in their statement.

“We have now arrived at an agreement whereby our groundshare will be made null and void if we are not accepted into Tier Three South on Friday.”
