Briton Ferry Llansawel vs Airbus UK Broughton talking points: Diau, Peers and Fallon shine in away win

Airbus UK Broughton made it back-to-back wins in the Cymru Premier as they beat Briton Ferry Llansawel on their travels.

Goals in either half from Oliver Calland and George Peers, who supplied Calland for the opener, made it a happy trip to South Wales. The Wingmakers were good value for their victory.

Ferry have now lost three league games in a row for the first time since November 2025. It’s the first time since 2015 that Airbus have won three top-flight matches in a row.

Airbus dominant in the air

The Wingmakers’ back four were the main men in the first half, as a barrage of aerial balls were swept up with ease by the defensive line.

The Ferrymen’s main out-ball in the first period was a clipped ball, aimed at Tom Walters, that came to no avail, as Brandon Diau won a plethora of aerial duels against Briton Ferry’s forward line.

Diau, who only made his second appearance of the season tonight, was at the heart of the Wingmakers’ third clean sheet of the season, as he made a fantastic block just before the final whistle to seal the clean sheet and a first back-to-back win for Airbus since 2015.

Smart counters proved fruitful for Peers

Pace was the attribute that won Airbus the game this evening, as both goals came from quick counter-attacking moves after Ferry turned the ball over.

Ferry struggled to gain a foothold on the game in the first half and were punished by the wingmen, who used their pace out wide, as Jordan Evans’ smart ball, hit low across the box, fooled Will Fuller in goal and allowed George Peers to tap into an empty net.

It was Peers again who set up Oliver Calland’s smart strike from the edge of the box just after the restart, which was ultimately the final nail in the coffin for a Ferry side that have now lost three games in a row.

Louis Fallon good value for a clean sheet

The Altrincham loanee produced an inspired performance between the sticks as he kept another clean sheet, his third of the season.

The 19-year-old impressed at Old Road with fine stops during the match, in addition to his adept work with the ball at his feet.

His ability in goal, paired with the physicality of the defenders in front of him, ensured that Briton Ferry were left frustrated and goalless in this Friday night Cymru Premier fixture.

Tough tests upcoming for both sides

Airbus have arguably the toughest test in the Cymru Premier next Friday, as they take on reigning champions TNS at The Hollingworth Group Stadium. But going into that game off the back of two wins in a row and a resolute defensive performance will be sure to give them confidence as they really get into the swing of their return to the Cymru Premier.

Briton Ferry have now suffered three defeats in a row and sit in 11th place. They will need to regroup before back-to-back away games against Haverfordwest County, who currently sit below them in 12th, and Penybont, who look to be mounting a European challenge this season.
