Another exciting season awaits in the South Wales Premier League, with plenty of anticipation over how the title race will unfold.
With two promotion places available, typically into the Ardal South West, aside from occasions such as Caerphilly Athletic’s move to the Ardal South East, the competition is set to be fiercely contested once again.

Afan United is installed as title favourites
Could a ground of their own provide the platform for success?
Afan United recently opened the Sean McCreesh Memorial Ground following a seven-figure investment. The impressive new facility boasts high-quality changing rooms, an artificial playing surface, and spectator stands, giving the club a permanent home to match its ambitions.
Last season was Afan United’s first at this level, with the club finishing a respectable sixth. This time around, however, they are being tipped by many as the team to beat and the favourites to lift the title.
Five-way battle for promotion
Bridgend Street, Clwb Cymric, Pontyclun and Treherbert are all expected to be firmly in the promotion race.
Bridgend Street have enjoyed a strong summer in the transfer market. Among their new arrivals is former Cardiff City academy player Kieron Proctor, who also has international experience. Jayden Allen, Elton Injai and several other additions have strengthened the squad at The Willows, adding further optimism ahead of the new campaign.
Clwb Cymric competed strongly for both the title and automatic promotion last season, but a backlog of rearranged fixtures for their opponents forced them to watch others secure promotion. Despite that disappointment, it was still a respectable campaign, and they will be aiming to build on it this time around.
Treherbert were relegated from the Ardal Leagues last season after finishing bottom of the South West division. They ended the campaign 11 points adrift of South Gower above them, having managed just two wins from 30 matches.
Following relegation, the priority will be to stabilise and regroup, although an immediate return to the Ardal Leagues has not been ruled out.
Three sides tipped for relegation
Porthcawl Town Athletic, Ely Rangers and Aber Valley are generally considered the least fancied sides in the division, and as such are tipped by many to be in the relegation battle.
Ely Rangers’ inclusion in that group is something of a surprise, given the strength of their recruitment so far. They have added Jordan Cotterill, formerly of Barry Town United, while Morgan Clarke who played a key role in Ammanford’s promotion to the Cymru Premier, has also arrived at Wenvoe, significantly boosting expectations ahead of the new season.
Dinas Powys and Tata Steel United are the two newly promoted sides joining the division, and both have been given similar expectations in the pre-season predictions, with survival in the league widely seen as the primary target.
