Trefelin have made one of the standout signings among the newly promoted Cymru Premier clubs after securing the services of highly-rated attacker Dan John from Cardiff Met.
The 20-year-old arrives at Ynys Park following an outstanding campaign with Ammanford, where he played a key role in their promotion challenge before being named the Cymru South Young Player of the Season.
Dan John joins Trefelin after prolific Ammanford spell
John enjoyed a remarkable 2024/25 season on loan at Ammanford, registering 26 goal contributions in total, scoring 18 goals and providing eight assists as the club finished third in the Cymru South.
Despite signing for Cardiff Met last summer, John was immediately loaned back to Ammanford and has since departed the Archers without making a competitive appearance.
Instead of returning to Ammanford for another campaign, the talented attacker will now line up against them in the Cymru Premier, with both clubs preparing for their first-ever season in the Welsh top flight.

Dan John excited by Trefelin challenge
Speaking to Trefelin’s official website, John expressed his excitement about the move and the opportunity to test himself at the highest level of Welsh domestic football.
The fixtures for Trefelin’s maiden Cymru Premier campaign were revealed on Thursday, with Andy Hill’s side set to begin life in the Welsh top flight against Colwyn Bay, who reached the European Play-Offs last season. It promises to be a stern opening test, but John is relishing the challenge of competing at a higher level and is eager to showcase his ability on the biggest domestic stage.
The attacker acknowledged that Trefelin will face a period of adaptation as they adjust to life in a division the club has never competed in before. However, he believes the squad has the quality, ambition and mentality to continue the progress that secured promotion and establish themselves in the Cymru Premier.
“I’m really looking forward to the new challenge at Trefelin.
“I am determined to push on, develop, and show what I can do at Cymru Premier level.
“To join a team that were so consistent and won the league is a huge boost for me.
“We all know it’s going to be a tough step up, but I wouldn’t be joining the club if I thought we would struggle, fail to stay up or not be able to push on.
“I spoke to the manager (Andy Hill) at length, and you could see how ambitious the club is and the desire to keep pushing forward on and off the field.”
Cymru Premier experience despite young age
Although still only 20, John already has experience in the Cymru Premier, having made 15 appearances for Haverfordwest County earlier in his career.
The forward believes his personal ambitions will go hand in hand with helping Trefelin establish themselves in the top flight.
“I will have my own individual goal target, which I will keep to myself for now, but my main focus will be to help the team and ensure they get established in this league as quickly as possible.”
John’s arrival represents a major statement of intent from Trefelin as they prepare for their maiden Cymru Premier campaign, adding one of the most exciting young attacking talents in Welsh football to Andy Hill’s squad.

Andy Hill delighted with Dan John signing as Trefelin continue summer rebuild
Manager Andy Hill has expressed his delight at securing the signing of Dan John, who becomes Trefelin’s second arrival of the summer.
The Cymru Premier newcomers have already strengthened their squad with the addition of experienced full-back Kane Owen, who spent the last decade at Penybont. The contrast in profiles highlights Trefelin’s clear recruitment strategy, blending proven experience with emerging young talent as they prepare for life in the top flight.
John’s arrival from Cardiff Met represents another statement of intent, with the club identifying a player with significant potential and plenty of development still ahead of him.
Hill said:
“Dan joins us after an outstanding season where he has already established himself as one of the most exciting attacking talents around.
“Dan brings pace, athleticism and a real eye for goal, while his aggressive work off the ball and willingness to press make him an ideal fit for the way we want to play.
“Just as important, Dan fits the player profile we’ve worked hard to build at the club – young, hungry, ambitious and eager to improve.
“We are excited to see Dan continue his development with us and we look forward to working with him.”
