Hurley joins the Steelmen

Afan Lido midfielder Jack Hurley has signed for Port Talbot Town FC, it was announced this evening.

The 17 year old makes the 0.4 mile journey from Afan Lido’s Marston Stadium to Port Talbot’s Genquip Stadium after an impressive spell at Lido.

Despite his young age, he was a regular in the Lido midfield and involved in the majority of their games so far this season, leaving the club whilst they are seventh in the table with two wins, two draws and three losses.

Port Talbot are below Lido but by only one point in 14th, having recently climbed out of the relegation zone with a stunning last minute win over Taffs Well in spite of having just nine players on the pitch due to two dismissals.

Whilst Port Talbot still have plenty to do in order to get amongst the high flyers of the Welsh League, Hurley joins the club at a time of optimism and the Port Talbot faithful will no doubt welcome his signature.

Port Talbot are next in action on Saturday when they face a groundhog day fixture, playing Taffs Well once again but this time in the JD Welsh Cup first round proper.

Lido also enter the competition this weekend, hosting Pontyclun of the South Wales Alliance Premier Division.
