Peter Rees: “I love challenging myself against higher opposition”

This weekend Carno travel to Hawarden Rangers, 2.00pm kick off, to try and get their team in to Mondays draw for the JD Welsh Cup.

I spoke to manager, Chris Davies, ahead of this cup clash.

“ Everyone at the club is really looking forward to this game. We don’t know much about our opponents, but we will go about our duties and concentrate on our own game.”

Carno go in to this game eight games unbeaten and their last four wins have seen them keep four clean sheets.

“ Going to Hawarden I feel as though we have our strongest team of the season so far, welcoming back 3 recognisable faces to our squad. But we are still waiting for 4-5 players to return. ”

Chris Davies if they are confident about getting a result this weekend. He went on to add;

We go in to this game full of confidence after our run in the league so far. Since I took over we haven’t gone further than the 1st round on 3 previous occasions. I hope that we can break this cycle. ”

Peter Rees, who is the top goal scorer at Carno with 11 goals in 11 games gave his thoughts on the upcomng fixture.

“ I am really looking forward to the game as I’m sure all the lads are. The Welsh Cup is the biggest competition we enter and helpfully we can progress into Round 2 and be in with a chance of drawing one of the clubs from the higher leagues. Personally I love challenging myself against higher opposition.”

He then went on to say that because they don’t know much about Hawarden they hope that it can work in their favour.

“ We’ve been on a good run of form and let’s hope that continues. I know there few lads in line to return which is great to see, I know it adds competition for places but I look at the fact it makes the squad stronger.”
