Newport City reprimanded for fielding ineligiable player
Welsh League Division Two side Newport City have been deducted three points by the FAW for fielding an illegible player, however the club claim they believe there is no wrongdoing on their part.
The inelligble player was initially included in the starting lineup, however after discovering that he was in fact ineligible he was removed from the lineup. The player admitted to having misled the club with regard to his name, address and date of birth.
The club made the immediate decision to remove the player from the match day squad. However, despite the club not sure of its wrongdoing, the club were deducted three points for breaching FAW rules.
It has been a turbulent summer for the club, after they nearly ceased to exist until a new committee was formed. They currently sit low in the table, with the club having picked up a meagre four points.
The latest deduction will take them down to a single point, and they will be rooted at the foot of the table below West End.
