SCOTT BECK: “We go into the game with nothing to lose.”

This weekend will see Greenfield F.C take on visitors Guilsfield F.C in Round Three of the Welsh Cup.
The Flintshire based side progressed through to the third round after beating Mynydd Llandegai FC in the previous round 3-0. Despite going down to a home defeat to visitors Barmouth in the middle of November, the Welsh Alliance League 1 club bounced back last weekend earning a point in the league with a 2-2 draw away at Llanrwst United. This weekend, however, everyone at the club is focused on the job at hand and is looking to qualify for the fourth round of the Welsh Cup.
Scott Beck the Greenfield FC joint manager is anticipating a fantastic day for the club and looking forward to the fixture.
“We are looking forward to the game, it’s a massive achievement for us to get the third round so this is the biggest game the club have had for a long time. We have made massive strides over the last two years so we looking forward to seeing how we far we have come by testing ourselves against Cymru Alliance opposition”
Beck recognises the task ahead of the club despite historically the visitors not being one of the bigger clubs in the league.
“Although Guilsfield may not as big a name as some teams in the Cymru Alliance they are sitting third with only Prestatyn and Caernarfon Town abovr them in the league, so this shows the magnitude of our task ahead.”
The club are not taking the game lightly and will be ensuring that feedback and analysis on the visitors is evaluated ahead of the fixture. The club are looking forward to the tie and ensuring their supporters will have something to sing about come full time.
“We go into the game with nothing to lose and see ourselves as massive underdogs but we are confident, despite drawing last week at Llanrwst United, our performance merited more and we were disappointed not to come away with the three points. We have plenty of players with Cymru Alliance experience and they will be vital to ensure we are not overawed by the occasion.”
Excitement is mounting ahead of the clash and Beck is hopeful that local football fans will turn out to support the club and help roar them in the next round.
“We will be hoping that Guisfield take us lightly, and if we can keep it tight at the back I am more than confident that with the quality of our attacking players Shaun Beck, Conor Hughes,Wayne Edwards and Gareth Henley we can trouble their defence and create a massive upset.
We generally only get 30-40 at a home game but we are hoping the village will come out and back us and with no other game in the area hopefully it will attract a bigger crowd. We will be playing for the badge and village and aiming to progress through to the next round.”
