Ben Chamberlain leaves Buckley Town

Ben Chamberlain has left his role as manager of Buckley Town due to new work commitments, it was announced today.

Chamberlain became manager in the summer when financial difficulties were threatening the Huws Gray Alliance club’s existence, and worked to improve conduct at the club which in turn improved attendances.

Yet Chamberlain experienced poor fortune in his tenure, winning five from 20 with his last game in charge a 6-1 defeat at the hands of league leaders Prestatyn Town.

The club sit 14th in the Huws Gray Alliance, ahead of a New Year’s Eve cup clash with Holyhead Hotspur.

An official statement on the club’s website said:

“Buckley Town FC is sad to announce that, due to new work commitments, Ben Chamberlain has, this afternoon, resigned his role as team manager.

During his time at the helm Ben showed the utmost professionalism and dedication to the club. He enjoyed the respect of the players, the supporters and the club committee members alike.

At the beginning of the season the club was determined to set a new behaviour code to ensure that families would feel welcome at the club and Ben was instrumental in setting this up. As a result of this policy the club has seen a huge increase in attendances, and the family atmosphere is now very apparent.

We would like to put on record our sincere thanks to Ben as he came at a time when the club was in serious difficulties and yet he still managed to secure players for the club.

The club wishes Ben all the best for the future and add our congratulations for securing his new managerial promotion”.

The club will now begin its search for a third first team manager in less than 12 months.
